Greggs Breakfast Club

The Greggs Breakfast Club Programme was established in 1999 to help primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day.

Every school is provided with fresh bread from their nearest Greggs shop, and a grant to support start-up and ongoing costs. The average club costs just £2,000 to set up and run for a year.

The first breakfast club was established in 1999 as part of a Business in the Community ‘Seeing is Believing’ event. The event was in response to growing concerns that children were attending school without having any breakfast. Greggs plc took up the charge and established the first ‘Greggs’ breakfast club.  Greggs staff volunteer at every school, giving children the opportunity to understand more about working environments and giving staff members the satisfaction of knowing they’ve made a difference. There are now over 385 breakfast clubs, providing free breakfasts to over 22,220 children every day.
