Computing

At St Columbas, we believe that Computing is an essential part of preparing children for life in the modern world. Our Computing curriculum is inclusive, engaging and ambitious, ensuring that every child develops the knowledge, skills and confidence to use technology effectively and safely.

By the end of Key Stage 2, we want all pupils to be digitally literate; able to use technology to learn, create, communicate and solve problems with independence and responsibility.

Our curriculum is carefully planned to build knowledge step by step, from the Early Years through to Year 6, so that children know more, remember more and understand more as they progress through school.

What we aim to:

  • Help children make sense of the digital world around them.
  • Teach the National Curriculum through three key strands: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy.
  • Equip pupils to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
  • Build pupils’ confidence to adapt to new technologies and embrace future opportunities.

Our goal is for every child to leave St Columba’s with the skills and understanding they need to thrive in a connected, digital society, not just as users of technology, but as creative, critical and responsible digital citizens.
