St. Columba’s Year 3 Blog

readingThe ability to read fluently and with understanding is such an important skill to have and one that gives you access to every area of the curriculum. That is why we place such a huge emphasis on fostering a love for reading here at St. Columba’s. Reading books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – please spend at least 5 minutes a night reading with your child as it will have a massive impact on their progress!

P.E will be on a Monday and Tuesday this term. In the unlikely event of the timetable changing, it is recommended that children bring their P.E kit in on a Monday, leave it on their peg, and take it home on a Friday. Children will need trainers or pumps for Games.

Each week the children will have a spelling test on a Friday. They will be given their new spellings after each test to take home and practice for the following week.

Maths homework will be given on a Wednesday, English and Spellings on a Friday.
