Nurture

“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Timothy 1:7

Reading

We believe reading is fundamental! The ability to read fluently and with understanding is such an important skill to have and one that gives you access to every area of the curriculum. That is why we place such a huge emphasis on fostering a love for reading here at St. Columba’s.

Reading books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – please spend at least 5 minutes a night reading with your child as it will have a massive impact on their progress!

PE

This term, we will have P.E. on a Monday and Thursday. Children need to come to school in full school P.E. kit on these days.

Spellings

Every Friday children are given spellings, based on the week’s spelling rule. These should be worked on at home. Just a couple of minutes every day will help to build knowledge and support spelling development.

Homework

Homework will be sent home every Friday. This will be an English and Maths activity. TTRS and reading eggs/reading plus,  should also be accessed at home.
