June 2015:

Our Year 4 children made some Tudor houses as part of the History curriculum topic. Their work was selected by Knowsley Council to be exhibited at the prestigous Elizabethan Fayre. The work took centre stage and the Lord Mayoress commented on how impressive the houses were.

A big “Well Done” to all concerned!!

Our 100% attenders enjoyed a morning at the Cinemas on Monday 15th December 2014! Well done to the children…..

Taxis help deliver school attendance message

A campaign to remind parents and pupils about the importance of good school attendance will be driven home with the help of eye catching adverts on the sides of local taxis.

With the new school year now firmly underway, Knowsley Council wants every parent and child to continue to ‘give school attendance 100%’ all year round.

The campaign focuses on the issues that poor school attendance can cause and reminds families there are no excuses for unauthorized absence from school.

Speaking as the first of the school attendance taxis headed out onto the streets of Knowsley, Cllr Gary See, the council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services, said: “We want to reiterate our message that if a child isn’t in school, they’re not learning. Every day missed is vital – and we know that even a few days missed can lead to a drop in the child’s GCSE grades, for example.

“Our young people need to be ready for the real world when they leave school – and future employers, colleges or training providers want to see somebody with a track record of good attendance which demonstrates how reliable they are.

“We hope that this campaign will serve as a reminder to parents and pupils that school attendance is important and that days off for holidays, birthdays or other non-essential reasons can do real damage to a young person’s chances of success.”
 In addition, the council regularly monitors the school attendance of pupils and will work with the pupil, their parent or carer and the school to address any attendance issues at an early stage.

Cllr See added: “If parents or carers are having problems getting their child to school for whatever reason, they should come and talk to the school or the council for support and advice. If we work together we can improve attendance.”
